RE: [bigtenvb] first week schedule

Outside of the blockbuster matches for PSU, there are some really interesting/ranked matchups in week 1.

MSU – Poly – tough, tough matchup

Minn – Creighton - MVC will be interesting this year, very balanced, IL St could end up winning it all

Xavier-OSU - Xavier lost two solid players, but arguably was the 2nd best team in Ohio last year after OU; OSU must step it up

NMSU-Illinois – wow, tough matchup again, NMSU is very strong, even better than last year

Duke-Purdue – can the Boilers integrate the pieces?  Duke will give them a test.

Oregon-Illinois – no easy task here, and the Illini must defend Huff much, much better than they did last year

MSU-WSU – another interesting MVC team

Minn- A&M – A&M is much improved and will test the Gophers

Minn – LSU – really difficult doubleheader; LSU is very good, big favorite in the SEC West

KSU – Purdue – ditto – an even harder test for the Boilers than Duke

Wis – Ky – beware Ky this year, better than many think

Well -- waking up from the Olympics to see that the Yankees are 9.5 games out of first raises the prospect that this might be a rather pleasant fall sports season (i.e. without them in the playoffs for the first time since 1722).

All eleven Big Ten volleyball teams open this Friday -- good luck to all, let's do some whuppin'.  Here's the schedule ... of course this means the beginning of my annual four weekends of figuring out exactly what conferences the likes of UTSA and USF play in ...
