The championship matches are set in the EIVA, MIVA and MPSF heading into the last day of conference action, as the three leagues will all hold their finals on Saturday, April 29. The 2006 Men's Volleyball National Collegiate Championship will be held on the campus of Penn State University on Thursday and Saturday, May 4 & 6. The winners of each of the three conference championships and one at-large team decided by the NCAA committee will comprise the four teams in the hunt for the national title at Rec Hall (http://www.gopsusports.com/VolleyballM/NCAA_2006 for more information).

Penn State has claimed both of the previous meetings this season. The Nittany Lions took the season-opener at home in four games (30-21, 28-30, 30-19, 30-24) on Jan. 12 and also came away with the road contest in three games (30-24, 30-22, 30-26) on Feb. 17.

Long Beach State leads the season series 2-1. The 49ers claimed a four-game victory (25-30, 36-34, 30-25, 30-22) on Jan. 7 to take home the UCSB/Elephant Bar title. Long Beach State won the Feb. 25 meeting in three games (30-23, 32-30, 30-21) but UCLA swept the 49ers in the last meeting of the season (30-21, 30-28, 30-28) on March 31 in Los Angeles.
