Penn State played good defense; Minnesota played unbelievable defense.
Very exciting match, if not always a well-played one on both sides (both
teams had their good and bad streaks). The Penn State hitters at times
showed an unfortunate reluctance to _hit_ (tipping and rolling way too
much), and I don't think it was Sam Tortorello's best match (esp. with a
lot of sets that were too low).
So, how 'bout them Buckeyes, in first place?
I also have a question arising from Friday's Iowa-PSU match. I'm not
criticizing an obviously successful coach, but rather looking for an
opinion / explanation from people more knowledgeable about the game's
tactics / strategy than I am. Cindy Frederick simply _would not_ call a
time-out (used one in the whole match, in the first game when it was
already too late at 25-13). This was especially baffling in the third
game, when PSU wasn't playing that great and Iowa was only down by a few
points, and had a legitimate chance to win. Any explanations of this
no-time-out strategy?
