Hey gang,
I hope you and your families are all safe and managing to stay warm

Spinning a little before 7:15PM for our very own...BIG CRANK

Inspired by Jay's personal invite (Thanks, Jay!)...does any of the following sound like fun to anybody?
Bruce Hadley here...I plan to go to the event this Saturday, December 2, and would be glad to drive (...duh...since I'll be driving anyway!) This is the organization I mentioned at the last CrankShop of the season--OZARK TRAIL ASSOCIATION http://www.ozarktrail.comThe website includes a photo gallery of previous outings and the type of work we do...a great upper body workout as well as an easy dayhike to and from the worksite...BBQ afterwards.
FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS WHO HAVE NO INTEREST IN THIS, PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL--If you're interested in going, feel free to contact me personally at hadleycrtv@... so we can coordinate. Upcoming Events To sign up for any OT event please visit http://www.ozarktrail.com/workparties.php
Middle Fork Cleanup - Saturday, December 2 Believe it our not we are still doing cleanup work from last springs storms. Tread and corridor work will be performed followed by a BBQ. Meet at the Highway 32 and DD trailhead.
Clifty Creek Project – Saturday, December 9 This is a non-Ozark Trail event posted for the Missouri Department of Conservation. The Clifty Creek Conservation Area in Maries County is getting a new one-mile trail to a scenic natural arch. John Roth is running a small paid crew during the week, and on December 9th the Department of Conservation invites volunteers to extend the trail to the top of the arch. From what we hear this is going to be a nice trail.
To sign up, contact John by email: john.roth@... if you would be interested in helping out
Berryman Tread Repair – Saturday, December 16 We will be doing some rerouting and rebuilding of damaged OT trail along the western Berryman Loop followed by a BBQ. Camping will be available Friday & Saturday
OTA Operations Staff Meeting – Tuesday, December 12 The operations staff of the OTA will be holding its monthly meeting Tuesday, December 12 @ 7PM at the Powder Valley Nature Center in Kirkwood, MO. All are invited.
Thank you for your support!
Happy Trails!

Hey, Big Cranks.
If this icy muck falling out of the sky does, in fact, turn into
snow tonight and IF we get as much as they are saying we might, then
I'd like to suggest that anyone who is free tomorrow around noon....
....meet on Art Hill with sleds in hand for SLEDDING!
If there are a few inches of snow on the ground in the morning, I'm
rearranging my schedule and headed over there to sled at noon.
Haven't done it since I was in High School (never mind how long ago
that was), but I feel the need for speed and since I can't ride my
bike when there's ice on the road....
After we have gotten thoroughly soaked and frozen, then we can head
over to Kayak for hot chocolate, s'mores and lunch.
Spur of the moment, I know. No time to plan. But hey. We don't
plan the weather...with global warming...well, you better grab this
chance to sled while you have it cause next Winter it might be 70
degrees all the way through to Easter.
Peace,
J
PS: This is NOT a Big Crank Cycling event. Personal invite...so no
helmets required! :) Target has sleds for under 10 bucks.....
Hey, Big Cranks.....
Do you have any Big Crank pics you'd like to share? If so, we'd
love it if you would post them to the photos section of the yahoo
group. Any yahoo group member can post photos and its really fairly
easy. If you have the time in the next coupla days, we'd love to
see them.
The photos section is organized into file folders by event. If you
have photos from an event that already has a file, just add them to
that folder. If the event doesn't have a folder, feel free to
create one.
If all of that is just too aggravating, you can always just email
the pics to jedwards06@... and Jay will post them for you.
Thanks!
Big Crank Cycling
PS: Don't forget! The banquet is only a week away! Be sure to
RSVP to the e-vite as soon as possible so we can be sure to have
enough food. So far we're at about 25 attendees! Its going to be
fun! If you didn't receive an e-vite, please email
jedwards06@... or call him at 314-600-8150. BCC
We had an awesome turnout last week...23 Big Crank riders on spinning bikes! It was a BLAST! I can't wait to do it again this evening and burn off some of that pumpkin pie from the holiday. So, this evening, we again meet at St. Louis Spinning a little before 7:15PM for our very own...BIG CRANK SPINNING CLASS! Come join the fun!

Friends,
There are many things for which we could be grateful this year. From
almost every angle, this year has been a success. But today, at this
moment, we can think of nothing more important to give thanks for than
having had the opportunity to ride with you this year. As a club, we
have put rubber to ashpalt over many, many miles. As we pause tomorrow
to give thanks, your board will be thinking about each of you and the
pleasure it has been to ride with you. We look forward to many, many
more miles to come.
Happy Thanksgiving!

PS: Invitations to our annual banquet have been sent out via e-vite.
If you have not gotten that invitation, please email J Edwards at
jedwards06@.... Details can be found in the calendar, but the e-
vite is a better option. See you on December 6th!

Big Crank Cycling
Hey, all.
This coming Saturday, November 18th, will be our last Jersey Ride of
the season. And it looks like its gonna be a nice one! The weather
channel is predicting pretty, if chilly, Saturday morning. A
perfect ride to try out your new winter riding gear. And it is
supposed to warm up fast. So come on out, dust those bikes off, and
join in the last Jersey Ride of this very successful year.
We will meet at Hartford Coffee Company and depart on the first leg
of the ride at 8:15. We will loop around on a short (10-15 miles?),
easy paced ride and wind up back at Hartford. Those wanting a more
intense (though still social/recreational) ride will take a potty
break and then get back on their bikes and head out on a longer loop
along the newly refinished Riverfront Trail - which we've tried and
think it fantastic!
The second loop - and therefore the Jersey Ride - will be over by
11:30 at the latest and anyone interested can grab lunch to
celebrate together the end of our first season.
This will be our last scheduled Saturday ride until Crankcicles Deux
so pull on that lycra one last time and come down to Hartford for
the Jersey Ride. See you then.
Peace,
Big Crank Cycling
PS: Rain or snow cancels, but nothing else. If in doubt, ride
leader is Jay Edwards. 314-600-8150.
Hey David
I didn't respond as being able to do spinning (although I am interested) because I have chorus rehearsal on Monday eves.. but it occured to me that when we are on break from Mid Dec to early Jan. I could come on some Mondays.. is that allowable?.. to just come on one or two Mondays without a major committment ?
Dave
I do know that they sell spinning packages that you can purchase, although I don't know what the exact rates are anymore. You can inquire on Monday evening. See you there!
Hey gang, sorry about the typo. My contact number is (314) 479-8019, not (314) 479-8018 as I stated in the previous e-mail. So sorry for the confusion and for the extra e-mail.
See you all on Monday evening!!!!

Hey, all.
The weather channel is predicting a very unpleasant mix of rain and
snow tomorrow morning, so we're taking a pass on the Giro del Caffe
tomorrow (Thursday) morning this week. Though our new Big Shark
supplied cold weather gear should be in by then, the slushy mess that
is probably going to be falling on our heads if we ride makes a
pleasant, social/recreational ride beyond our reach tomorrow morning.
While we're at it...I know this is hard to believe...but next Thursday
is Thanksgiving. While we probably could probably all stand a ride
that morning to prepare for the gluttony that will follow, I, for one,
plan to be watching the Macy's Christmas Parade and baking bread
pudding.
So the Giro del Caffe is on sabbatical until the Thursday after
Thanksgiving. We'll send a reminder that week so you remember and can
come join us.
Thanks and Peace,
J Edwards

I don't know about you guys, but since the temperatures have dropped, I have been really reluctant to get back on my bicycle. Consequently, I'm not getting my "cycling fix", and I'm itching to do some pedaling.
I have been talking with St. Louis Spinning in Brentwood about offering spinning classes for Big Crank at a discounted price. If we get a minimum of 10 folks that can make it on a regular basis, then classes are only $6 per class/cyclist, as opposed to the regular walk-up price of $15!!!
I wanted to see how many of you would be interested in spinning on Monday evenings, at 7:15PM. To offer our club a discount and a dedicated instructor, they need a minimum of 10 folks to commit to being there. It's just be us Big Crank crazies, some great music, and a killer instructor! Sounds like fun, huh?
St. Louis Spinning is located in the Hanley Industrial Court, which is not far from the intersection of Hanley and Eager Roads. Check out their website!
Spinning is a great way to ward off all those holiday meals, and an even better way to stay in good cycling shape for when the weather turns nice again! Their classes are being grabbed up by other local bike clubs, so we need to act fast! Let me know by the end of the week if you can commit to Monday night classes.
If you are interested, DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL! Start a new e-mail, and address it to me at DRidgeway@bjc. org. If we get enough interest, then I'll make the arrangments with St. Louis Spin.
I would definitely be able to go at least every other monday with my work
schedule. sign me up.
Jay

Start a new e-mail, and address it to me at DRidgeway@.... If we get enough interest, then I'll make the arrangments with St. Louis Spin.
Can't wait to meet all you guys...sound like a lot of fun.
Saw The Queen (yes the movie) last week and loved it.
Hope to see all at the Dec gathering.
Lyle
