Hey, Big Cranks!

Its that time…Crankcicles!

On Saturday, February 25th at 10am , Big Crank returns to the road with
our
annual "give winter the finger" ride in Tower Grove Park (Yes indeedee -
this is a new location).
The ride takes place in Tower Grove Park and perhaps the neighborhoods
around it and we ride
for as long as we can take it. Details below. We finish up by riding to
the Hartford Coffee Company
(at Hartford and Roger) for a little warm up and self-congratulatory
excess.

Here's the deal: the nature of this ride requires that it be rain or
shine. Weather doesn't cancel Crankcicles,
otherwise we'd just reschedule it for May. But what fun would that be?
This is our chance to tell Mother Nature
"Rubbish, you have no power here. Now begone before we drop a house on
your head, too!" So, unless
there's lightening (bikes make nice targets!) or monsoon like rain or
frozen stuff on the roads…we ride!

Think of this as the equivalent of those icy plunges the Polar Bear Club
makes in January and you have the spirit
of Crankcicles. Then when people say, "How was your weekend?" you have
the best reply in the room!

The ride is a social/recreational ride for all bike types and skill
levels. The ride is coming Saturday, February 25th.
We will meet near the Turkish Pavilion (that is the big red and white
one as you enter off Tower Grove Ave (close to their offices)
and the ride leaves at 10am. We ride until we're done, whether that's a
coupla laps around the park or a coupla laps
around the neighborhood. That'll be up to the group to decide Saturday
morning. After we're done we ride over to the
Hartford Coffee Company located at the corner of Hartford and Roger.

We would suggest you dust off your bike and slap a little lube on your
chain before you come if you haven't ridden this winter.
It would probably also be helpful if you pumped up your tires at home.
We will have a pump, but bike maintenance with cold fingers
is not pleasant!

Remember that helmets are required on all Big Crank rides and you will
want to cover your head and your digits well - it is February people.
