HI WANKERS!
Just want to put a warning on this board because I'd hate to see
anyone's vacation ruined like mine was. I went on a cruise and the
first stop was Mexico. I was laying on a beach chair while the
wonderful waiters were bringing me many MANY Coronas. I made the
mistake of wearing make up that day so I was rubbing my eyes after I
got out of the water. The next day my eyes were BRIGHT red. The
bridge of my nose was so big I couldn't put my sunglasses on. My eyes
were swollen shut. I had strange red marks on my legs, hands and
stomach. Eventually these spots blistered and peeled. I was
wearing sunblock. It was WAY worse than any sunburn I've ever had.
The cruise doctor didn't know what it was. They gave me a few shots
(the needle kind, not Tequila) and two types of pills and told me to
stay out of the sun and don't drink. I was only on the second day of
my cruise. DON'T DRINK!!?? The swelling went down in a couple days
but I didn't go to any dinners and I had to hide under a hat and
glasses the entire cruise. When I returned home 8 days later my eyes
were still very red. I went to a dermatologist in Chicago and he
IMMEDIATELY knew what it was. Phytophotodermatitis. Google it.
Basically, anywhere the lime touched my skin I developed blisters. I
was squeezing the limes and then rubbing the make up off my eyes,
that's why my eyes were so bad. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it
CAN happen to anyone. It took at least a month before the marks on my
stomach and legs went away.
Just wanted to put the word out there because it ruined my whole
vacation. Needless to say, this time I'll be drinking my beer WITHOUT
a lime.
On On to IAH in THREE weeks!
