Want to send a care package to Any Soldier in Harm's Way, but have
no idea of what they need or how to send it? Go to website:
http://www.anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/ . Click on a name where
you'll find the information about a U.S. soldier, what branch of
service they are in, their address (make sure you send it exactly as
it is written), and an email from the individual describing what
items they have on their wish list. Even though it may be too late
to arrive in time for Christmas I guarantee you they will appreciate
those packages at any time.
On 31 October 2001, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary (Acting) Alan
Estevez approved the suspension of the "Dear Abby" and "Any Service
Member" Mail Programs.
Nearly 1 1/2 years later, an unsigned news release states "...the
public is urged not to send unsolicited packages or donations to
service members..."
AnySoldier.com is a listing of volunteer service members stating the
needs and wants of their units. Mail is ADDRESSED TO the soldier,
the "ATTN: Any Soldier" line is simply a visual that the
package/letter is from the AnySoldier.com effort. This is NOT
unsolicited mail.
