it is not a swap I have done . have you looked at the latter 425 oil pump to
see if it would help . and on the fuel pump maybe if you went to the smaller
performance pump it would help, I would call al at mts and get the size of
the pump to check . what kind of oil pan problems do you have ? latter

Any suggestions with this engine/trans swap? Motor and trans mounts
are in the same place as the donor car, a '69 Fleetwood, but the
oil pump and fuel pump hit the crossmember. Looks like I need to
graft the '69 crossmember into the '62. I have oil pan problems as
well.

Still working on stuffing a 500 into a 56 Chev P/U. Time and $,

Always looking for new ideas and hotrod engineering......
Looking forward to burning rubber someday..........
Hotroddder.....
hello everyone, just joined the group and want to learn all i can
about the big block caddy. have a 73 nova with a 500 and a 71 chevy
lb truck with a 500 and nos. the truck was a really quick job, just
cutting torch and welding . the engine is a 100,000 plus miles, $200
junk yard buy with a new timing chain installed. has 6000 miles in
the truck now and is running good.put a used nos system on it and i
have had a ball with it.just bought a 72 eldo 500 for $200. the guy
had it in his shop for 15 years with the oil pan off. took it down
and the wrist pins were seized on the rod. not good. anyway i did get
the rear sump pan so ican build another engine to swap out in the
nova this winter.after playing with small block chevy for years you
can really tell the difference in quality when you get into these
engines. i live close to Asheville NC. anybody here in the
southeast. charles
Hi guys-ok if I join you here?
I've been working on tuning the q-jet on the 472 Malibu.I'm
gaining, but it's tough to get the idle/off idle circuits richer
without going too far.My cam wants a little richer mix than the stock
settings, and it is trying my patience. The good news is that the car
runs very strong and is a blast to drive.Catch you later...Terry
it will be nice to talk on a system that is not with any co. that is caddy based . i have been working ( hotrodding) on caddy motors for 17 years . i have bought parts from mts , potter and cmd but i like to make my own way . i make parts work from other motors dream up my own cams make my own rockers and try to keep the cost down and make the most power after all if i wanted to spend a bunch of money i would be doing a big block chevy.

does kb make any pistons for the 472? i'm looking for a set to give
8.5:1 (give or take, lower is better than higher) with the 76 cc
heads (i might could settle for the 96 cc heads)
thanks, jon

Thats what I am hoping too! I would also like to get info on other
parts manufacturers. Being that the other board is owned by one of
these parts manufacturers I dont think it would be fair to talk about
other part manufacterers and combos from other people. Dont forget to
tell people about this site. Also I make no money from this site. All
I ask is to keep it Cad,car or performance related and not to turn it
into one of those "oh whatever am I going to do now that my
girlfriend left me?" :-) Thanks guys for joining! have a good one!

i too am in the beginning stages of doing a twin turbo '72 472
i just bought my donor car on friday (less than 55K on the car)
my current, vague, changeable plan:
olds 455 rods
chevy bb forged pistons
performance springs
custom, homemade rocker shaft with stock rockers
custom grind turbo camshaft
turbos: don't know yet, probably a pair from a junkyard diesel (5.9
dodge, 6.5 gm, or 7.3 ford). or i might use a pair from the pontiac
301. i'm shooting for a 15 psi boost in order to theoretically
double the power figures, i'll probably see 700 hp, 850 ft-lbs of
torque. i may tone it down a bit, and keep it around 10 psi (i'm
guessing 600 hp, 750 ft-lbs torque).
i'll either use the stock exhaust manifolds and just turn them
backwards. or build some myself (probably based on some hugger
headers) i'll probably draw air from the wheel wells.
I have a set of stock valve oil seals for the Caddy heads. They are a new
retainer and the oil seal built into them. If someone needs them for a stock
fix, let me know, and make an offer. They are brand new still in the Felpro
box. I am in Sacramento, Ca. Later--Dustin
JC,
Why did you use the Ford intake? The Performer intake can be made to flow up
to 7000rpm for half of what it costs to get the Ford to fit. Kinda the
reason I am rebuilding my engine anyways, accidentally shifted at 5800RPM on
a stock bottom end with 245,000 miles. Lol!!! What cam grind are you
running, and where did you get your roller rockers, how much? I know, I
know, bunch of questions, but I am curious as to what your combination and
use of the engine is. Later--Dustin

Well I am working on a turbocharged 472 for my 71 sedan deville. It
is an all stock 472 that I am going to be using a holset hx40w on.
Hoping to make around 500hp. So what are you guys doing?
