If you are mechanically inclined enough to graft the whole cross member, why don't you just notch the one already there and check out other oil pans, they did...

I'll try to notch the existing crossmember first. Another problem is that the '62 had a two piece drive shaft, and the '69 had a one piece with two u-joints...
