One of the common strokers is to use a 6.7" or 6.8" Chevy rod on an
offset ground ford crank. The I can get Eagle H beams for $379 and
trw Forged pistons for $219 -$349 . My local crank shop can do the
crank work for under $200.
All of that will be down the road though.

go for the 460 if they're plentiful and cheap and 500's are hard to come by. they're pretty darn comparable if you ask me - a great engine. i almost went for...

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about. If I could come accross a Caddy like that I'd do it. I guess being up here in Michigan there were just more Lincoln...

I would go with the 460 also. One of the reasons I like the 472/500 is because there are so many of them out here. There are actually alot of 429/460s here too...
