Josh,
Maybe you can have your cake and eat it, too. Bore the 460 .060" (it should
handle it, no problem). Offset grind the crank to a 2.25" journal size.
Get 455 Buick rods (these are forged steel from the factory). Weld the big
end (I forget the dimensions, but the Ford rod is *slightly* thicker than
the Buick rod), machine the small end out to the Ford pin size and Voila! a
503 Ford!!

Sorry guys,
I want to build a big motored light drag car to run 11 flat in the
quarter. I planned on running a 500 cadillac, but there just aren't
any running motors around here (S.E. Michigan). I was looking for a
running 500 motor and 400trans, and small light chassis. I keep
looking in the papers and online. NOTHING!!!!!!!
Guess what there are a lot of around me though? Ton's of 460 Ford
trucks and 460 Lincolns with C6 tranny's. There are about 5 places
that build motor mount kits, headers and every thing else you need. I
found a good condition 86 Mustang notch back. No motor or trans but
it does have a 8.8" rear end with 4.10 gears and subframe connectors.
The owner took it to a weigh station and it weighs 1,950lbs as it
sits. All for $600 !!!!!!!!!!!!
I also found a 71 or 72 Lincoln with 100,000 miles on it. Runs
great. Rusty and rotted to heck but my buddy want the 9" rear end and
will buy it from me for$175. I can get the whole car for $350. I'd
have $175 out of my pocket for the motor, trans and anything else I
want from it.
