Greetings, fellow big cubed members. Bought a very clean "garage
queen," red 1972 Eldorado convertible with white leather last Fall.
I'm very proud to be the 2nd owner of this floating dream. Going to
do a little work to her to bring her up to 100%, but her body,
chrome, paint and rag top are absolutely perfect. She's really near
ready for her first car show this summer. 91,000 original miles on
the 500 cid. Already had the big spreadbore carb rebuilt to like
new, but here is my question to the group:
What should I be looking for in that motor with this much mileage and
30 years under her belt. Are these motors tough on timing chains,
oil pumps, or what? Don't want to think about doing a complete tear
down and rebuild of the mootr, as of yet. But would like to make
sure her "weak link" doesn't pop in the mean time.
Thanks for the help, and I'm really proud to be a part of this SIG!
