Re: [bicyclingadvocacy] Re: Legally Roll Through Stop Signs

I would find this law very useful. I commute to work early in the morning, and
there is one intersection in particular which will not recognize my bike in the
left turn lane, so the light remains red.  There is rarely traffic, so I usually
stop, and then proceed at this intersection.   It would be nice if this were
legal.

I would like to respond to this suggestion.. ...

A... who describes "rolling", it may be one thing to one and another

thing to somebody else. Where as a STOP is a STOP.

B... Presently we have the law on our side, (at least in most areas)

classifing a bicycle as a vehicle. If we start making seperate laws

for bicyclists, the next step may be some smart alex lawyer will come

along and use these seperate laws as a defence for some ignorant

automobile driver that has just maimed or killed one of us. I say

lets maintain and share the same laws as a vehicle. We must realize

that some people can twist and capatilize on small things to their

advantage.

Regards,

Jerry.
