Yesterday I received an urgent message from the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department about a problem they are having with bicycle riders training at high speed in the Greensboro Country Park*

(*that is the City park that some incorrectly call "Jaycee Park" or "Battleground Park" but in fact, is in between those two; it's the 1.6 mile loop around the lakes.)

This park, host this past July to the North Carolina State Games, the Carolina Cup Race on Sept. 9th and many other non cycling events, is popular with families, senior citizens and others. It is a great park for a nice conversational ride, for newbie riders or kids, etc.

But race type riding at high speeds is extremely dangerous there and is not allowed at any time other than the aforementioned race events.

Please help spread the word to all your cycling friends that we must not endanger our use of this park, for personal rides or these cycling events. By abusing our privileges in Country Park, we could jeopardize this great asset to our bicycling community! Slow down in the Country Park!
