Tim,
Thanks for the suggestion of getting more familiar with the plan as a group.
It would be great to bring in others who are outside of this list too. I think
there are a couple ways we could all get more educated as a group about the
plan.
1. we could read it as a group, focusing on the list of improvements and the
method the City is using to prioritize these improvements. I think this is
enumerated in the plan.
2. we could invite Peggy Holland from the City to present to us what is involved
int he plan and how new projects will be prioritized, funded, how our input will
be used, etc.
I for sure will admit that I have not read the entire Plan. I have focused on
chapter 4 primarily.
Since this is an all volunteer organization, i would suggest that you set up a
few dates, locations to go over the biped plan and I will help with the outreach
to the BIG group (I have a slowly growing contact list) and other contacts who
may be interested in attending a group discussion of the plan.
Best,
Jesse
BIG Board Secretary

Subject: [bicycling_in_gso] BiPed plan
Hey folks. I've been mostly out of touch with the group lately,
wrapped up in being a student. But I've seen the occasional
mention of the city's BiPed plan on this list and I've been
wondering for a while where things stand on this.
I have tried to delve into the report myself on a couple of
occasions. I see that chapter 4 has a nice round 100 trails
and greenways listed, and it seems unlikely that they'll all
be completed any time real soon. So is there a plan for how
and when they'll be done, and who gets to be in on the
discussions related to this?
For that matter, is there anyone out there bold enough to
claim to have even read the whole report? :-) And would
there be any group members interested in going through
it one modest chunk at a time--book-reading group style--
and discussing it?
Peace,
Tim Victor
