this... There's a little bit of money coming available for pedestrian/bike
planning, so now would be the time to push this with the appropriate folks.

NCDOT Announces
Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative
2006 Call for Proposals
As of October 3, 2005 the Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian
Transportation (DBPT)
is accepting applications for the North Carolina Department of
Transportation's
Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant Initiative. This program encourages
municipalities to develop comprehensive municipal bicycle plans and
pedestrian
plans.
Together with the Transportation Planning Branch, the DBPT has secured
$400,000 to
fund the 2006 grant program. All North Carolina municipalities are
eligible and are
encouraged to apply. The deadline is December 2, 2005.
Over the past two years, at total of $789,468 has been distributed to 36
municipalities across the state. These municipalities are currently
developing
plans.
