Thanks Nego.
Great ideas for focus on bike routes...
Those are exactly the folks we want to make cycling easier & safer for,
especially since they are already helping us by not polluting!

Subject: [bicycling_in_gso] Re: 10-5 BIG Meeting NOTES
hey y'all,
my name is nego - i havent made it to a meeting yet,
but i'm excited that they're happening. i wanted to
emphasize the need for bike friendliness on lee st.
there are A LOT of folk biking all along east and west
lee st (from coliseum to english) at all times of the
day and night. a lot of them ride on the sidewalks or
going the wrong way on the street because thats the
only way they feel safe. i personally bike that
stretch almost every day at least once and the street
is already plenty wide for a bike lane.
another street that i didnt see on the list is
florida. this is a major connector for the south
side, and it is currently very narrow in a lot of
places. but again, many folk bike this route, often
in ways that are less than safe.
i hope to make it out to the public hearings at barber
park, and to a BIG meeting sometime.
thanks,
nego
