Subject: Federal Certification Review

Dear Interested Citizens

The Greensboro MPO is preparing for a Quadrennial Certification Review of our transportation planning process.  The review is required under federal regulations every four years and is facilitated by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The certification review will take place March 16th – 17th.  FHWA will also hold a public meeting on March 16, 2009 at 7pm in Greensboro Council Chambers to hear stakeholder’s thoughts on the Greensboro transportation planning process. The review will conclude with a report and presentation from FHWA during the April or May TCC and TAC meetings. Please see the press release below for more information on the review process and public meeting.

Press Release

The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (GUAMPO) invites you to a public hearing regarding the GUAMPO transportation planning process.  Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will conduct the hearing as part of a quadrennial certification review of the GUAMPO transportation planning process.

The public hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for interested citizens to comment on GUAMPO’s transportation plans, programs, and services and how effectively they meet the needs of the area.  The MPO area includes Guilford County, except for the Burlington, Gibsonville, High Point, Jamestown or Whitsett areas.

The public hearing will begin at 7 pm on Monday, March 16, 2009.  The hearing will take place in the Greensboro City Council Chambers, located at 300 West Washington Street in downtown Greensboro.
