Hi, I've just joined this group in hopes of finding help in finding a
replacement fender for my bike. My family and I just moved to Guam
due to military orders and the movers broke off the back fender,
along with the light, of my bike. This bike was purchased in Belgium
about 7 years ago and it's made by Giant. It's a commuter bike,
upright, fenders with spashguards, has four speeds but no derailer
but instead has an enclosed system. I can't remember exactly what
the system is called. It has a generator on the front wheel that
generates electricity to both the front and back fenders/lights. The
fenders are plastic but have a metal coating on the inside that sends
the current to the lights. This is the type of bike that is used
extensively in The Netherlands by people commuting to work.
The bike does work without the end of the fender and I can use the
generator for the front light but if possible I'd like to replace the
back fender/light as it's nice to not have to worry about batteries
for a clip on light. I don't mind using an overseas source and am
not concerned with speed or cost. I'd just like to be able to keep
the bike in it's original condition as it's such a comfortable, fun
to ride bike.
If anyone has any ideas, sources or insight into this, please let me
know.
Thanks,
Dona
