Hi Jeff,
Congrats on rediscovering two wheels and the open road! Condolences on
rediscovering saddles sores and posterior pain. I've tried a variety of saddles
as my mileage has grown by leaps and bounds. The worst was a Kevlar-covered,
titanium railed TricoSport. Ouch. The best I've had so far is the Specialized
Body Geometry saddle (it's a Minkow wedge). They make several varieties. The
one I have does everything well--it's not too soft, not too hard, not too
springy, not too rigid, and it does take the pressure off of the pudental artery
and the perineal area. Not everyone loves this saddle, especially those for
whom traditional saddles seem to work all right, but it turned my riding from
torture into joy. I'm now a 5-6K/year all-weather, all-purpose velocipede.
Ride long and prosper,

Subject: Howdy!
Hi everyone...
I just found this group on Yahoo! Since the recent gas price jumps I have been
wanting to start riding my bike to work, so I pulled out the old dusty Raliegh
and got it all cleaned up. Back in my younger years (15-25), I used to mountain
bike quite a bit in the NW Orange county area in California... Chino Hills was a
favorite area.
But here I am now, 15 years, a wife and 3 kids later, and the kids are getting
out of their training wheels and want to go riding.
So after getting the bike cleaned up, I hopped on and started to take off and
youch! I got some major pain.
Now, in 15 years I traded in my cycle legs for a bit of a belly
(which I am hoping to swap back), but I have never had pain like this before. I
did a bit of research, and it seems there are some arteries and nerves and all
in the seat area that are causing the problem.
So I started looking for some seat alternatives, having remembered seeing some
funky designs in the past and ran into this:

ts.htm</a>
Has anyone used one of these before? If not, has anyone used another
alternative? Or have a different approach/idea?
Thanks for any help and advice,
Jeff
