Hi everyone...

I just found this group on Yahoo! Since the recent gas price jumps I
have been wanting to start riding my bike to work, so I pulled out
the old dusty Raliegh and got it all cleaned up. Back in my younger
years (15-25), I used to mountain bike quite a bit in the NW Orange
county area in California... Chino Hills was a favorite area.

But here I am now, 15 years, a wife and 3 kids later, and the kids
are getting out of their training wheels and want to go riding.

So after getting the bike cleaned up, I hopped on and started to take
off and youch! I got some major pain.

Now, in 15 years I traded in my cycle legs for a bit of a belly
(which I am hoping to swap back), but I have never had pain like this
before. I did a bit of research, and it seems there are some arteries
and nerves and all in the seat area that are causing the problem.

So I started looking for some seat alternatives, having remembered
seeing some funky designs in the past and ran into this:

http://www.hobsonseats.com/products.htm

Has anyone used one of these before? If not, has anyone used another
alternative? Or have a different approach/idea?

Thanks for any help and advice,

Jeff

Jefrf, how did your research rule out plain old muscle strain? Jumping on a bike after fifteen years might easily introduce you to a simple thing like that...

Well I eliminated muscle strain because the pain began immediately at the first cycle of the pedals... I mean there wasn't even time for any muscle strain to...
