Not so much a set standard, this actually depends on what size dots (simulated
target bulls) you use, then the distance you stand or lay from the wall. Raise
or lower your dots from the floor depending on your hieght.
The black dots that I use are about 3/16" inch. I stand about 7 feet away,
this is using a 3.0 front sight appature.
Most important factor here is to obtain a realistic sight picture to simulate an
actual range sight picture at 50meters. Lighting and wall background are also
key elements.

in Norwegian. So I think you're right, it's how far away to stand.
As for height, I just approximated how tall a real target is...about
up to my hip or so...and put the paper targets there. Perhaps others
have a more methodical way of hanging paper targets on the wall?
