Hi All,
I attended the Pemi summer biathlon race #2 on Saturday. It was a
really well run event. The run was an out and return for a total of
800 meters per lap for men and 700 for women. We shot paper and a
spotter gave you the penalties at range exit. 100 meter penalty lap.
There were 4 shooting stops; P,P,S,S. There were not many participants
which was a bit dissapointing from a competition perspective and for
the club. They put in a bunch of effort and it showed. My wife had
never participated and they had several loaner rifles for novices.
I assume the Harvard event will also be run very well since the two
clubs have a grudge match series. Both clubs are trying to hold
differant style of shooting events for thier members and hosting a
biathlon is one of them. Anyone is welcome to participate. It will be
good for the sport and for the clubs if the participation numbers were
up. Would I fly in to race? Not now but I would travel a few hours to
get there. The Harvard event is 2.5 hr. one way and I intend on going.
Any questions feel free to ask. I have no involement other than racing
and as a cheerleader for promoters.
