I got a copy years ago when the USBA actually did something. It was okay but
most of the skiing tips were still for classical skiing. The shooting was
helpful for a beginner but alot of the book was aimed at an Eastern European
coach type trying to identify which kids to send to the communist ski academy.

I believe you are thinking of a different book. I'm referring to this one:
http://www.amazon.de/Biathlon-Leistung-Training-Wettkampf-Ein-Lehrbuch-f%FCr-
Trainer-%DCbungsleiter-Aktive/dp/3785315961/sr=8-2/qid=1158130056/ref=sr_1_2/

I saw a copy, and it definately appears to be written for competitive racing &
training.
Thanks for your other listings, I'll check them out also.
