WEIGHT. Triathletes competing in "sprint" races (sub one hour) and cyclists
competing in critiriums and timetrials (both generally under an hour) just
make sure to properly hydrate and fuel themselves prior to the event. Both
are very conscience of aerodynamics and aften weigh their equipment in grams
(been there done that). Not to mention the break in concentration in
reaching for a water bottle or Camelback hose. Your muscles store plenty of
glygogen to support short term aerobic stress for such races and if hydrated
before the race an individual should be good to go. DO NOT attempt to fully
hydrate your body in the couple of hours prior to race time. Drinking extra
fluids the day before will do more good than the two or four hours before.
Rember to look at the type of events you're entering see how long it will
take you to complete it and try out any changes in training.
Drink up and have fun,
Jim
