I've heard that the USBA might be loosing their standing with the US
Olympic Committee. Any truth to this? Is there anything that
biathlon fans in the US or even North America should be doing to help?
I realize that trying to generate interest in biathlon in the United
States might seem like a fruitless task, but shouldn't that be a big
part of what the USBA does? As far as I can tell, their website is
barely maintained, and not public friendly. They seem to have less
P.R. efforts than Area 51. Are they unable to find volunteers or just
not interested in asking for help?
My phone calls are received nicely, but emails for information receive
curt replies that don't answer my questions. I ordered some
merchandise for a gift and was told that the items would be shipped
the next day. 5 weeks later I received my order.
I understand that a group like the USBA is likely under staffed, over
worked and under funded. Trust me, I've worked in the animal welfare
industry for many years, and I know what it's like. Many issues seem
"mission critical" causing groups to ignore things like press
releases, websites, taking/fulfilling orders, etc, but in the end
you're cutting off your ability to grow through public 'buy in'.
