RE: Biathlon North America On the top end

Z,

Stay away from the Remington Custom Shop deal. There is no way that they can
put on all the accessories like snow covers, etc for the same price. The
Anschutz was designed from the ground up to do biathlon. It has adjustments for
length of pull, cheek position, attachment points for harnesses and a lot more
that Remington would leave out. Also the fortner action is faster and requires
less repositioning of the hand after chambering a round.

Most of the world class biathletes are using Anschutz 1827 fortner action
rifles. Most of the rest are using Izmash rifles with custom barrels. The only
customization I see to the Anschutz are custom stocks. The most useful
customization to the stock is loweing part of the stock below the trigger guard
to form a more ergonomic standing position (like a detached palm piece).

Talked to Joe at the Remington custom shop Friday. He said they can
build me a CUSTOM 40-X similar to an Anschutz 54.18 for the same
price. Am I comparing apples to apples here?

Still most competitive shooters are using Anschutz production
products over any custom rifles. Maybe?

Are the standard production Anschutz rifles the ones used by the top
shooters or are they using a custom, custom Anschutz?
