Hi Phil,
I don't personally have that rifle but many pro's use it, and it's from
a darn cold country for sure.
In my experience races almost never start with temperatures that
low. But I would also suspect other variables besides temperature
are more likely causes of poor performance. Maybe the returner
did do a good job of removing other variables in his or her testing,
but it sounds like a good risk to me.
