Subj: Toy Run - December 6th
The Sacramento Sheriff's Department is inviting area Bike Clubs and their members to join together on December 6th for a Toy Run from Hagen Park to the Rancho Cordova/Sacramento Sheriff's Department facility on Rockingham Drive . Toy Run participants will meet at Hagen Park with their bike and toy donation between 9 AM and 10 AM. We will ride approximately 3 miles by police escort at around 10 AM. The Toy Run is connected to the Sheriff's Department Toy Project (see attached link: http://toyproject. org/ ). This program provides toys, computers, bikes and other needs to the kids of less fortunate families living in Rancho Cordova .
I can forward more information and some additional contact names at the Sheriff's department if you would like. They can share more information about the Toy Project. I volunteered to contact local bike clubs and share information about the event. My intent was to determine whether you were willing to notify your members about this event and encourage them to participate. The Mercy Cycling Club will be participating. We felt it was a great way to get the greater Sacramento cycling community involved in an important cause, especially when we are experiencing tough economic times. The Sheriff's Department is promising this will be a media event. We think it's a great way to bring attention to the growing popularity of cycling. Let me know if your club would be interested in participating.
Thanks.
