Hi there

I guess that's not exactly what you would have expected as a first message on
the "UK BikeFriday Club" group, since I'm in Italy and don't own a BF! --- But
the point is: I'd like very much to have one and I'd like to buy it in UK (since
there are no BF dealers in my country and importing it from USA seems tricky and
expensive).

So I have a couple of questions, maybe you can help me.

First of all I need to choose between NWT and PL. I'm 181cm, 86kg, and want to
use the bike for credit card touring. NWT seems lighter but I wonder if the
wider tires of PL wouldn't be better for bumps and so on.

Second question. I've written three or four emails to Avon Valley Cyclery in a
week or so, asking about a NWT or a PL, but received no answer. Is that a normal
behaviour for this shop as far as you know? I'm surprised because they have a
fine web site and should be used to distance selling. Any advice much
appreciated.

Talk to you soon

Firstly with regards AVC. I am not surprised. I have also found their customer service to be terrible, and have informed Bike Friday.

I personally find it far better to deal with BF direct, by phone, or email. I have acted as an agent for several purchasers here in the UK. And am very familiar with the importation of the bikes. I am very happy to guide you with the process should you choose to do it yourself. Or I can do it for you for a small fee.

With regards NWT or PL. It really is down to the riding you do. I personally always come back to my NWT, although I have tried all the other bikes, and owned two different Tikit's. I'd only give up the NWT for an Air bike, but that's a dream right now.
The NWT goes everywhere I need to go, but I'm not a serious off road biker. Just the odd occasion when the situation dictates. You can fit quite a wide range of tyre widths. I have used both narrow high pressure road tyres and much wider tougher touring/off road tyres on my NWT.

But if you intend to do alot of off road then the PL makes more sense. Only you know what type of riding you like to do.

Fell free to email or call me 00 44 1795 591040 if you have more questions.

Regards

David

Hi David,

Many thanks for your advice, much appreciated. I have to focus on my needs so,
but it seems that the NWT would be the right choice. So now I make up my mind
and maybe I'll contact you directly. (In the meantime I've just received a kind
answer from AVC: it seems that there have been troubles with email filters).
I'll let you know anyway. Thanks a lot.

Leonardo
