Greetings fellow San Diego Bike Friday enthusiasts!
The June ride is coming up June 12th, but I am not going to be able to lead
the ride since I will be teaching a "Street Smarts" bicycling class that
Saturday (See below). If any one of you would like to lead a ride here is
your chance. Let me know if you would be willing to read the June
ride. If no one can do it, the June ride will have to be canceled.
Now for a public service (or commercial) announcement.
As some of you may already know I am a League of American Bicyclists (LAB)
certified cycling instructor. I will be holding the LAB developed "Street
Skills" (Road I) cycling course this June. It will be held on three
consecutive Saturdays, June 5, 12 and 19th. The classes are 9:00 am - noon
and will be held in the Clairemont area of San Diego (Just west of I-805 &
Clairemont Mesa Blvd.). If you, or someone you know, is interested in
learning how to operate a bicycle legally and safely on the streets
(without being constantly "scared to death"), and learn more about your
bicycle this is the course for you. You can even benefit from this course
if you "already know how to ride a bicycle" by learning proper techniques
to avoid dangerous situations before they develop.
Class size will be limited to no more than 10 people. The fee for the
class is $50.
If you have any questions about the course content, or are wondering if you
could benefit from the course, please feel free to contact me by email or
telephone. If you would like to know more about LAB, their website is:

This is the "Street Skills" (Road I) course description from the LAB website:
This basic 9 hour course is perfect as a primer for those cyclists who wish
to gain a full understanding of how to safely operate a bicycle in a
variety of situations. The 9 hour class includes learning how to perform a
bicycle safety check, fixing a flat, interactive discussion, on-bike skills
practice and student manual. Students will gain confidence knowing that
they are riding legally and safely. Crash avoidance techniques and crash
types will be discussed. Recommended for adults and children above 14.
