Hi Friday folks again ...

Thanks to all the BF Club of NYers for jumping so swiftly to help! We have the following Fridays to show day after tomorrow:

Sharon Bahus - Tikit
Danny Huff - Pocket Rocket
Melanie Yolles - Crusoe
- are hanging with me at the booth some, I believe? from 10.30am to around 6-ish. Can come and go. Riders actually come in around noon-1pm.

Matthew Hiller - Tandem
Lindsay Lauder - Pro Petite
Ted Hughes - Rocket
- are perhaps leaving their bikes and returning around 6pm to fetch them.

Anyone with an Air Bike?

I wondered what on earth I was going to do about standing the bikes UP, with no bike stands etc. Having them flop on the ground or lean against a table is really UNPRO. So I bit the bullet and went online and bought 3 of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ZKESCG
$25 bucks each! :o( Gad, I really they work. Suppose to deliver tomorrow, with an Amazon Prime trial.
But there's only three of 'em. If any of you can provide some kind of stand, that would be great. Maybe if you go buy a simple kickstand for your bikes, I will reimburse you, it's the least can do. Or if someone can borrow a rack. Thing is, most racks don't work that well with small wheels.
After, we can go get food. Matt lives a few blocks away and says he can help.
I will have a banner to string up that looks like this:

At this point I have an idea to rig up the suitcase trailer to the Pro Petite, then put the folded tikit inside, along with the stands and banner and whatever, and head up the Hudson bike path. SO if anyone lives down my way (19th and 10th ave), we can ride up together. I believe there's a giant hill in there somewhere - if someone can tell me the best way to get there without sliding back downhill, let me know.

Thanks again. The recession has been somewhat tough for everyone, but especially makers of discretionary income items like, well, folding bikes - even though they are intrinsically more useful and money saving a Coach purse. But we're still here, I still seem to have a job, and you're all helping to support Made in 'merica. Muchas gracias. Since Mexico is half of America.

Location (thanks to Matt for this):
Sakura Park is bounded by Riverside on the west (Grant's Tomb is at the same spot north/south, but between the northbound & southbound lanes of Riverside), Claremont on the east, Seminary Row/122nd Street on the south, and International House on the north. The area with all the trees in this map.

Again, event details are at http://www.bikefriday.com/events/escapeny

PS I just stumbled across this. Thought it was fun - are you in some nutty cool club...

Hello Bike Friday friends in NYC,

Are you ready to Escape NY on a Friday this Saturday?

Register pronto here because the $42 online discount sign-up ends Tuesday Sep 22; thereafter it's $50.

Thanks to the generosity of the New York Cycle Clubyours truly (BF Customer Evangelist) and a couple of rabid NY BF customers will be manning a Bike Friday table at the post ride gathering in Sakura Park opposite Grant's Tomb.

Today Eugene, Oregon - tomorrow, NYC. Read the story behind this clip
We'll be demonstrating the joy of *convenient* bicycle commuting with our "Made in America", multi-modal Bike Fridays tikit. Yup, it really does fold and unfold that fast, and ride nice. Check out the video at the right, view fun tikit on Trial in NYC experiments, and for newbies, here's a quick primer on Bike Friday. I'll also be demo'ing my 3-in-1 reversible, Made in NYC Traffic Cone Bags and raffling it.

Asking a favor ... To save our little company a lot of air freight and keep our carbon emissions low, I planned on borrowing some demo Fridays from our downtown dealer bfold.com. But he's had a run on Fridays and awaiting new stock in October. So I'm reaching out to our Friday community. I would love to display a Tourist, a Rocket and perhaps a tandem set up the way you like to ride it, from around 10.30am to 6pm. Do you think you can help? Roll up, leave it in good hands, ride it home. Or hang with me at the booth for a while!

Also, if anyone is doing the actual ride, do pop by the table with your Friday afterwards, and feel free to help field the frequent "don't you have to pedal more?" question.

I'll be demonstrating my size small princess pink, 5-second folding Bike Friday tikit, plus my custom Pocket Rocket Pro Petite - the sub-20 lb, performance road bike designed for the smaller, lighter rider.

LOCATION Sakura Park is on the East side of Riverside Drive, just north of 122nd Street, and directly across the street from Grant's Tomb. Info and directions
Schedule of Events:
12:30 PM: festival officially opens
Rider return: From 1PM - 6 PM.
2PM: The flat-fixing contest begins
4PM: The raffle drawing for the Madone and VBT Tour of Tuscany
5:45PM: routes officially close
6PM: Sakura finish officially closes
