The pink tikit has gone to a new closet...   Message List

Folding folk ... here's the news of the moment.

1. I'm now a foot soldier for the moment after someone bought the pink tikit from under my butt just 2 days ago.

You might have spotted me riding a borrowed Brompton to get a cheap'n'choosy haircut in Chinatown. No you didn't you were imagining things ... :o) OK, I admit it. And then I stop by Wholefoods and get bailed up in twice, in two neighboring aisles, with a zillion questions about it! Fortunately, one should always know the highpoints of one's peers, which I do, then pointed them to NYCEWheels and bfold.

2. BTW, in the spirit of sharing cheap'n'choosies with cheap cyclists: really good haircut including shampoo, almost HALF HOUR HEAD MASSAGE using 3 different techniques (!!!!), blowdry etc --  $18 men, $22 women @ Jun Hair Salon, 12 Mott St. And no, it's not a traditional ricebowl cut, they can do whatever you want (you know we Asians can copy anything) - Jun use to do the $100-$250 uptown cuts before getting her own business. I think the dysfunctional website is www.junsalon.com

3. Thanks to the folks (10 of us) who came to the Laugh Lounge. It was extremely funny to most of us, especially the affectionate race jokes (of which I laughed at the Asian ones the loudest because I'm allowed to, right? :o) Scary was the 14 year old in the audience who's father insisted that dragged his parents along, not vice versa. Yikes! The kid looked like someone out of Brady Bunch.
Afterwards, like good cyclists do, we cleaned out the TuckShop of their signature sausage rolls:
Would you believe that place is open til 5AM Fri and Sat.

4. I just wrote to the USO.org to share our page about Bike Friday customers in the armed forces taking their BF's overseas. What the @#$% has this got to do with NY? I shared the clip of the tikit meeting the Intrepid:

5. VISIT BY BIKE ADVOCACY GURUS this Thur-Sat - just got this today from John Allen, LAB's NY regional director and a BF owner:

John Ciccarelli, John Schubert (maybe) and I will be in NYC from Thursday evening Dec. 4 through Saturday Dec. 6 to explore the new bicycle facilities there so we can report to the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Bicycle Technical Committee, of which we are members. One of the things we will be looking at is the 9th Avenue bikeway, which you have reported on. Our most intense exploration will be Friday, weather permitting. This will be a folding bike/video/photo expedition, with John flying in from California with his Bromption, and me arriving by Amtrak from Boston with either my Friday or my Twenty. If you and/or friends would care to join us at any time during our exploration, to have a look, take photos/shoot video or join us for lunch or dinner, please feel free to. My cell phone number is below. Hope to see you.

John's talking about my little ad hoc flick last year, of which there are probably thousands filmed from every possible angle on every possible steed:

I'm probably meeting him there, then we can go to http://www.3tarts.com on 20th and 9th to partake of their unbelieveable 60 cent chocolate ganache cookie. In fact, by joining us you will make sure those empty calories go to a good home instead of the trash. Read my take on the case of the cast-off choux ...

6. On Friday Dec 5 some of us are going to the Congee Restaurant for 5bbc member and Moulton owner (though buggered if I've ever seen him ride it) Danny Lieberman's birthday. If you want to join us drop me a line. We might drag the Advocacy Gang of Three along.
