I would like to ask if you can help me promote an event that I am
leading this coming August 5th, 2008. It's an event to promote peace
among are growing number of teenagers who are turning to guns and
gangs to solve their personal differences. This event is a bike ride
beginning from the Manhattan side of the George Washington Bridge and
will end at Ivy Hill Park in Newark, NJ where we will hold a candle
light vigil and recognize all the victims of senseless gun violence
that is occurring withing our communities.

As for myself, I am advent bike rider and I frequently ride my
bike from NYC to Philadelphia each summer. I have ridden and
marshaled the Five Borough Bike Tour as well as joined with Critical
Mass along with Transportations Alternatives. Promoting bike safety
and other environmental issues. So I am asking you to please help
promote this cause which I feel is very dear to me. The reason why
is because last summer on August 5th, four young teenagers who were
inside a school playground listening to music were gunned down
execution style for no apparent reasons but what is believed to be a
gang initiation. These were four young kids that did not have any
criminal records and were enjoying their last months of summer
vacation before starting college. This crime made national headlines
and shined the spotlight on teenagers who join gangs and use guns to
solve their personal differences. I am asking all of you to please
help me promote this ride
among your groups and organizations. My goal is to get as many as
50+ riders to join me in this cause.

Name of the event will be "Ride for Peace" and we will meet rain
or shine at 6pm on August 5th at west 178th street and Cabrini Blvd.
in manhattan At 6:30pm, we will begin our ride to Ivy Hill Park in
Newark, NJ where we have a candle light vigil for last years victims
as well as the many other innocent victims throughout our
