We are, of course, extremely saddened and concerned to hear about
the
many cyclist crashes, injuries and fatalities that have occurred in
the past couple of weeks. We will be issuing a statement either
today
or tomorrow to address these issues, and will continue to press the
City for substantive changes to improve cyclist safety in New York
City. I urge you to write to Mayor Bloomberg, DOT Commissioner
Weinshall and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly to express your outrage at
the City's complete and utter failure to protect cyclists by
providing safe street space for cyclists, educating motorists about
how to safely interact with cyclists on the road and enforcement
efforts targeting dangerous drivers:
