Hey Friday friends!
I'm back! Landing in Hawaii Nov 4 for a month - first a week or so in Honolulu,
then to the
Big island to check out my little piece of turf near Pahoa, then back to
Honolulu to present
my Route66 DVD at the HBL Annual meeting Dec 1, where everyone's invited.
One of our Bike Friday dealers, Alice B Toeclips, wants to do an overniter up
Mauna Kea
Nov 19-20 and we invite anyone who wants to partake. She might have to go back
but we
can make it part of a longer ride too. Or not. See below. Let me know.
Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Bike Ride up Mauna Kea
Rocky Mountain cyclist is looking for others to join me in a ride up Mauna Kea.
Here's the plan, though I'm open to changes & am soliciting kama'aina advice--
Sunday, Nov 19th meet over a 7:00 am breakfast at a Hilo restaurant.
Pedal 38 miles to the Mauna Loa State Recreation Area & spend the night in a
housekeeping cabin. (Cost $55/night for up to 6. Price includes beds, bedding,
towels,
toilet, hot shower & equipped kitchen, we bring the food.)
Monday the 20th, pedal & hike 16 miles to the summit, enjoy the view, then turn
around &
fly home.
Contact: Linda Gryczan (rhymes w/bison), I'm a slow & steady climber, well
acquainted w/
riding up tall mountains, fine w/altitude & cold weather, quite pleasant &
agreeable, if not
downright entertaining. Would love to know road conditions, what its like to go
from 0 to
14,000 in two days, & do people actually do this sort of thing?! Before the
4th, e-mail
conlin@... or call (406) 443-9277. After the 4th, I'll be on the Island,
away from a
computer, but checking phone messages daily.
