Boulder Folders,

It has been a long time since our last club ride, so it is time for our next
installment.... And what better time than hours before many Americans plan to
park their keisters on the couch and plow through four bags of potato chips?

WHAT: The Super-Boulder-Bike-Friday-Club-Super-Bowl-Sunday Ride

WHERE: Meet at the park near the Boulder Farmer's Market location (on 13th
Street between Canyon and Arapahoe... Near the Dushanbe Tea House)

WHEN: 11AM on 2/1/09 (it will be Feb after all, so we will try to take advantage
of the warmest part of the day)

WHY: So, I can feel good better those four bags of potato chips... and beer...
and bratwurst... and...

THE PLAN: We can decide on an exact route when we meet, but plan for a nice
cruise about town and maybe a stop at a coffee shop. Again, to utilize the
warmest part of the day, we will likely finish up by 2pm... but this all depends
on the group. If we want more, we will do more. If we want less, we will do
less... Also, if we wake up to lots of snow and brutal cold on that Sunday then
we will likely cancel.

Please let me know if you plan on attending... if anything, this will help if we
need to cancel due to weather.

Some club "administrative stuff": Our leader of several years now, Jeffry
Buechler will be moving out to Portland sometime in the next few months. He will
be attending our Super Bowl Sunday Ride, so be sure to come out to the ride if
you want to wish Jeffry luck with his transition to Portland. In the meantime, I
will be assuming the lead position in the club. Please feel free to let me know
if you have any particular ideas for club rides, or if you'd like to head one up
yourself.

Thanks!

... and please do let me know if you plan to attend the ride on 2/1/09

amtrak'swebsite outlines that fully mantled bikes are allowed to be racked on

has anyone travelled on amtrak with their BF fully mantled on the train? I am

After reading about Jeffry on the BF website, I emailed him and he
invited me to join this small group. I've had my canary yellow Pocket
Rocket Pro for a few months now. I'm looking forward to hooking up
with other BF owners for some Colorado rides (I live in Boulder). I
would describe my riding style as recreational (slow, but steady).

A ride I'm thinking of doing next weekend (Sunday, June 1) is the
annual Circle Boulder by Bicycle. Link: http://tinyurl.com/392ykf. And
here is a map of the routes: http://tinyurl.com/65yxtf.

There are two loops. According to the map they are 23 and 12 miles.
(Although the first link above gives different numbers.) The event
starts at Scott Carpenter Park at 3 p.m.

I'll be taking my BF to California (SF/Monterey area) in the middle of
June. If anyone has some ideas for rides, I'd welcome suggestions.

I'm looking forward to meeting other BF club members.

alas, my lack of leadership led to a summer of few group rides. Jeff
Butterworth, the club
muscle, has officially kicked me out of my leadership role. this is my attempt
at
redemption...

please consider coming out on Saturday, the 13th for a casual group ride, and
perhaps some
coffee.

let's meet just west 13th St., across from the Dushanbe Tea House at 11am.
we'll start biking
by 11:15am, so don't miss the BF caravan. and, keep your fingers crossed that
the weather
will be warmer and drier than the forecast.

feel free to rsvp, if affirmative, to me(jeffryverse@...) or the yahoogroup

i'm eager to catch up with you all and show-off my new PRP, lucy.

hi folks.

so far, it looks like no one will join erica and i on saturday morning. we will
still go to
Amante at 9am in case anyone shows up.

also, sad news: i was unaware, until today, that the Lyons Cafe, also known as
the Pie Place,
is not open on the weekends at all! so, we might have to make do with treats
from the
Barking Dog Cafe. i apologize if i've tempted anyone unduly with the promise of
pie.

on another note, it looks like Jeff Butterworth and i will also ride on sunday
morning. if
anyone's interested, please email or call me:

howdy BikeFridayers-

i've been lax in my organizing another club ride, but at last i've come-up with
a plan, and
even a few weeks out...

inspired by Laura Watt's suggestion, let's ride 4 pie. from the north boulder
Amante coffee
shop, it's a 13 mile ride one-way along 36 to the Pie Place in Lyons. we can
cruise up there
and back with a tasty treat in the middle. if there are riders wanting to burn
more calories
before the pie-eating, we can have a group add more miles on less-direct routes
such as
over Old stage rd and through Hygene.

let's meet at the north boulder Amante (broadway and yarmouth) at 9am, and start
out at
9:15am.

Hello All,

AK and I were looking at this ride and are thinking about doing it. We
have not made a decision yet, but perhaps some of you Friday Owners are
interested?

The ride is on July 28th!

By the way, did you see our club leader Jeffry is famous? His write-up
appeared in the latest BF catalog!

Adios,

hello again-

this weekend's forecast looks pretty ridable, so i'm scheduling another chance
for folks to get
together. perhaps an 8-12 mile ride, perhaps some cafe treats & conversation,
or whatever
folks feel like when we gather.

i'll be across 13th St. from BMoCA, between Canyon and Arapahoe on Saturday at
11am. i'm
pretty sure my love erica will also join us for her first club ride now that her
stem is in the
mail.

feel free to RSVP in the positive, but don't sweat it if you won't make it.

happy spring to you all. Sunday's forecast looks amiable for a club ride, so
i've scheduled
one to start at 12pm. please gather across from B.M.o.C.A. (on 13th St. between
Arapahoe

stragglers and
we'll probably start out eastward on the boulder creek path. i'll be there
regardless, but if
you think you'll show, please drop me an email.

expect more rides, more often in the upcoming months. thanks to a great
suggestion by
Laura Watt, i'm in the delicious phase of researching a "Ride for Pie" event for
us. i know,
tough job, but someone's got to do it...

also, please be aware that i am only the Boulder BF Club "Chapter Leader" by
improbable
circumstances and some elbowing by the Galfromdownunder. so, if any of you all
would
like to take over or share that title, or otherwise contribute to club stuff,
please feel
welcome to do so. i'm happy to serve, but please feel welcome to steer me
toward what
you wish the club to be.

lastly, i'm looking forward to catching-up with folks on Sunday, and i think my
sweety will
even attend her first meeting with her new BF, "Sabine, the Pink Machine" as
long as the fit
stem arrives from BF.

i am happy to report that yesterday's Boulder Bike Friday Club ride was a
well-attended
hootenany.

after gathering together at the farmer's market, we had a leisurely 10 mile ride
on the
multi-use trails in beautiful bike-riding weather. as we neared Tom and Natalie
Hedberg's
home, she suggested that we all stop by for lemonade and cookies, and of course,
we did,
sharing touring stories, laughs, getting acquainted better, and enjoying the
Hedberg's
generous hospitality.

Laura Watt joined us from west of Golden, and the intrepid Bob Parsons biked all
the way
from Longmont (and back!) for the ride. Also in attendance were Jeff
Butterworth and his
fiancee A.K., regaling us with stories from their 2005 trans-am tour.

now, given the approaching winter weather and holidays, i'm hesitant to try to
schedule
another meeting without consulting you all. so, i would like to propose that
anyone with a
suggestion of when/where to meet, and what to do, please email me, or post an
email on
the club page and i will try to sort-out what makes sense. of course, if anyone
else is
feeling like taking-on such organizing, i'd be happy to hand-over those reigns.

i think it might be fun to have a social in which folks can swap tour stories
and show
photos. it's our club, so let's cook-up some fun...

happy riding, jeffry

roll out by 12:20
or so. with halloween costumes?

well folks, our 3rd meeting on September 23rd sure wasn't crowded. Jeff

my day by showing up, and he and i had a good time riding and swapping stories.
see the

i've set our 4th meeting for October 21st, at noon. find us on the grassy field
directly west of
the Farmer's Market(west of B.M.o.C.A. on 13th st. north of Arapahoe). we'll

again, we'll just grab

some of them will finally be done touring in Europe, the lucky ducks.

howdy folks,

our first meeting, on July 15 was a hoot. we were 5 small-wheeled riders, happily ambling
about Boulder. Thom, a long-time resident of Boulder, led us on a 14 mile ride around
town, mostly on multi-use trails. he and Alan decided to get more of a workout by
climbing the NCAR hill, which gave Sally, Manfred, and i a chance to swap biking/touring
stories. the ride even included 2 flats when Manfred and i both suffered from over-heated
rims from braking on a long descent while towing trailers on a very hot day. of course,
this allowed for more socializing and it's amazing to me how many miles of touring were
represented by just a handful of us BFers.

i'm sure our second meeting will be larger and more fun. i'll also remember to bring my
camera this time! details below and on the yahoo group calendar.

cheers, jeffry

in the grassy area west of the farmer's market, directly west of B.M.o.C.A., across 13th
street and just north of arrapahoe. it's easy to park at the boulder public library, main
branch, and ride the multi-use path east to the farmer's market. click this link for a map:

after hearing lot's of interest from many folks, even some in Frisco!, i expect we'll have a
large crowd this time. i imagine we can find our way to another social/easy-moderate ride
around town. we can make a plan based on who shows up.

hi gang-

there may have been some confusion about the date of the 1st meeting, as we had
considered the 8th of July. if anyone showed yesterday during the rain, i
apologise, and i
congratulate your BF hardcoreness.

for the sake of clarity, the first meeting is set for July 15, 10am, at the
boulder public library's
main entrance parking lot.

if the weather looks to be really wet again, i'll try to post a message for a
rain-cheque 24 on
friday.

cheers, jeffry
