The next Baggcyclist ride is planned for Saturday, July 23rd.
But, first a synopsis of the ride that took place on Saturday, June
25th.
It was titled: ABS------Adventure, Biking, and Saturday
It was one of the hottest days in years and biking in this
temperature would have been
memorable enough; but there is more............
Three of us took off from the train station in Newburyport, MA
Two others arrived later and met us on the Parker River Wildlife
Refuge Road.
Toward the end of the ride, two of us ended up with a much longer
return trip than anticipated.
Our minds must have been clouded from physical weariness (now about
four hours into
the ride) as we graciously accepted an offer from a man in a pick up
truck with trash bags that was going to the dump to give us a lift
closer to our destination.
Stranger, pick up truck, trash bags, going to the dump---get the
picture.
We must have been weary as we gleefully climbed into the back with
our Bike Fridays.
Tail-gait down, sitting in an open truck with helmets on and holding
onto our Bike Fridays
surrounded by trash bags with the driver a stranger going to the
dump. Now that
was a photo opportunity. This gives you an idea what some of the
Baggcyclist
rides can offer for adventure. Please read on if you would like to
join in the next planned ride for Saturday, July 23rd.
Let's call this ride the ABCD' S ride:
Adventure, Biking, Camaraderie,Dining and Swim
Date: Saturday, July 23rd
Time: Plan to meet at Gazebo (see directions below)
9:00 to 9:15 a.m.
Place: Newbury, New Hampshire-----Route 103
This will be an picturesque ride on country roads along a meandering
brook.
It will start with a nice 2.2 down hill on Route 103 and end with
some rolling hills
on Old Post Road (a country road) and a short down hill on Route 103
to
gazebo location. Total mileage only about 17 miles; but the hills
will make it
seem like more.
This is a nice ride to bring a wife, husband, relative or friend
even if she/he does not
wish to join in the biking event as the meeting area is the gazebo
at Newbury Harbor
Beach. This offers a scenic view of the lake. Great for relaxing,
reading, or just
day dreaming. Bring bathing suit for a jump into the lake to cool
off after the ride.
Some may choose to join in a bite to eat in the restaurant that is
right across in
the Newbury Harbor Plaza. It offers a comfortable environment with
lakeside views and relatively inexpensive menu. (average ten to
fifteen).

1. Interstate 93 North
2. Merge onto Interstate 89 North/West toward Lebanon/White River
JCT, Vermont
3. Exit five off Interstate 89; this is Route 202/9

one halve miles

spot:
Newbury Harbor Beach-----Gazebo.

it is open to anyone
that wishes to join as long as you bring along a sense of humor,
helmets and water.
This is a social ride. Bike repairs are your own responsibility and
