Subject: Bike Friday ride this Sunday, April 24th

Hi Folks,
Spring is officially here. The weather for Sunday, April 24th looks
good for a ride.
Some Bike Friday folks have been riding off and on for impromptu
rides; but they promise to not be speed demons and leave us slower
ones in the dust.
We will plan to meet in Carlisle at Great Brook Farm. This location
offers the
opportunity to visit the animals and get ice-cream, hot chocolate, etc.
Directions at end of e-mail; but first a message of encouragement.
Please forward this to anyone that you think may want to join in this easy
pace bike friendly ride. A Bike Friday is not necessary; just a bike with
running parts, a helmet, water bottle and desire to make the day count.
Another message of encouragement is as follows:
Any of you or if you know others that have a bike route that they
would like to share some 4th Sunday of the month, I will post it to
the list. It is suggested that the meeting area for the ride
for the ride be within a two hour ride from Boston via car. A
comfortable ride is between
20 and 25 miles. It can be more or less dependent upon the terrain
and also may have options for longer with bail out points. Send
suggestions to baggcyclists@...
The ride for Sunday, April 24th will be led through the country roads
of Concord, Carlise,
by James V. He has more expertise at the right and left turns of
this area, but I will be there to make sure he gets them correct.
Thanks James in advance for the guidance and support.
Date: Sunday, April 24th, 2005
Place: Great Brook Farm, Carlise
Time: Meet at 1:30 pm.
Directions:
Via Rt. 3
1. Route 128 to exit 32A (Route 3 North)
2. Route 3 to Exit 28 (Treble Cove Road)
3. Go south/west on Treble Cove Road toward Carlisle
(approximately 1+ miles)
4. After crossing Route 4 (Nashua Road) turn right onto
West Street
(also known as North Road at the
Billerica/Carlisle town line)
5. Drive west on West Street/North Road about 2.2 miles
to Great Brook Farm.
6. Turn right into the parking lot.

Option two:
1. Route 128 to Exit 31 B;
(Routes 4 & 225 north & west)

2. Follow Route 225 all the way to Carlisle Center
(past Hanscom Air Force Base, a
cemetery, a shop plaza, etc.)
(past where Route 62 joins 4/225
from the right at 1.5 miles)
(past where Route 62 leaves 4/225;
stay right as Rt. 62 goes left)
3. Stay on Route 225 (you turn left) as Route 4
bears off to the right;

4. At the Rotary (small grassed island at Carlisle Center,
take right onto Lowell Street;

5. After about 1 1/2 miles, turn right onto North Road
(there is a sign for the Ice Cream shop);

6. The parking lot is about 1/4 mile on your left.
My cell phone will be on at 12:30

Of Note: Last month's ride: Where were you guys? Yes there was snow
on the bike path; but we did some alternative routes. A great day.
One in the group rode towing a trailer with 25 pounds of brick.
Another took a maiden voyage on her bike; she only did 105 K. It was
her first time since last fall. Good job Pam. James did ? number of
miles as he did alot of extra looping miles to keep checking on me.
Myself, I only did about 17.5miles; but did get to the car by dark.
Also of Note: Look for me at the Five Boro Ride.

I might be on a Bike Friday or
I may be on the Moo Terry bike with the clothes to match.
New York has grown accustomed to looking for me in this attire.
And lastly, plan ahead for next months 4th Sunday of the month ride.
Plans are: Scenic Cape Ann/Gloucester area.
Let's continue those impromptu rides as well as this 4th Sunday of the
month scheduled ride.

That's all folks. Place message in Save file.
See you on the trails soon.
