CLOSE TO the home of Bike Friday, Bend is an epicenter for outdoor sports. The air is crisp and dry, the cafes are chic, and the cycling is outstanding. What better reason to visit and ride with the Bike Friday Club of Bend?
Celia says "I am new to Bend, and also new to Bike Friday - I just bought one from my friend Karen. I moved here last year from Maine, and am looking forward to meeting and riding with local Bike Friday aficionados and make some new cycling friendships. My husband and I own a bike touring company in Bend called Wild Heart Cycling, offering scheduled and custom tours
throughout Oregon. When I'm not cycling or running I practice law."
Initially the club will have a weeknight ride every other week until it starts getting dark too early, then we can figure out what works for everyone in Fall/Winter. We can do conversational rides and/or structured workouts, depending on the interests of the group. Rides will not be a competitive hammer session - there are plenty of group hammerfests in Bend. No rider will be left behind!
NEXT RIDE: Wednesday, August 4th, 2005 at 5PM. Meet in front of El
Caporal in Tumalo. 1-2 hours, easy-moderate pace, a few hills. Nice rural scenery, lots of alpacas and llamas, views of the Cascades.
Please rsvp to leber@fr.com if you plan to attend or would like to be notified of future rides. Hope you'll join the fold in Bend!
