Hey Lynette! How long are you here? I'm in Oklahoma this weekend and will be working the following two Saturdays. But I hope we can get together. Let me know!

Leo, Thank you! I think Stanton and Suzie have offered, so I might take him up on their offer at least initially, so as to spread myself around and thus remain welcome in Austin :o) Soon... I think the conference is mainly for BikeEd people.
I will be doing the OKFreewheel bicycle ride across Oklahoma June 10-16, so I won't get to see you this trip to Austin.
Looking forward to seeing you again sometime. Will be taking my BikeFriday to New York in Sept. for a Bicycle Adventure Club ride in the Finger Lakes area, and then again to Mexico in January 2008 for a tour of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Hey I just am getting caught up on my mail from traveling and having limited email access. You are welcome to stay with Sue and I while you are here and we could have a get together while you are staying here.
I am also just reading the flyer we got about the bike ed conference. Sounds interesting and I am grappling with the expense of of signing up.
By the way Jester Blvd, is only a molehill....(just kidding) :>).

Lynette form BF here! Looks like I'll be contributing at the BikeEd Conference in Austin, June 14-16, thanks to Stanton and Preston putting me forward. I might bring down one of our new tikits, http://www.bikefrid ay.com/tikit
I will be coming straight from a presentation to the NY 5 Boro Bike Club (following Italy in May), so I'd love to be able to present to the Austin Club again, this time, perhaps my Route 66 movie, or Italy. What do you think Nancy, Fred, folks?
Looking forward to meeting you all again. I'll have to be at a Little People Expo in Seattle beginning of July. Maybe we can do some riding and WholePayChecking! !! Lynette
Greetings all, I just bought a Crusoe Lite and am very excited about
having a bike again. The people I am meeting who have BF's are
wonderful. I'm eager to get my "legs" under me again. Currently in the
bike-honeymoon phase. lol Would love to meet all of you. Will try to
make it to the pedal on Friday, but I'm not sure. Keep riding.

I'm forwarding this email from Dave at Music City Cycles. I know I would love to have a local BF-specific resource. If you feel the same, email Dave with your wishes.
Hi y'all,
I bought Ruth Kanagy's wheelset without asking enough questions. When
I got the wheels (20mm rim width) on my bike, I discovered my brakes
won't reach. So unless someone can tell me how to extend the reach of
my v-brakes, I've got to either let the wheels go or get different
brakes, which may not be possible with an AG anyway. I've been happy
with the brakes, so I decided to let the wheels go (they really are
pretty!) In case you didn't see or don't remember Ruth's post, here's
her description of the wheels from the Yak list:
*406 WHEEL SET* - Used only 6 months!
F. Hub - American Classic 24o Micro, Black
R. Hub - Shimano Capero 36o, Silver
Rims - Velocity Razor 36o (laced 24)
Spokes - Butted 184mm
$150 plus shipping.
She said she was selling them because she traded her bike in for one
w/451 wheels.
I'll sell them for $150 and consider the shipping tuition paid for a
lesson learned. I also have 3 presta tubes that I'll sell for $5 each.
I've put two of them on the wheels, but they've never been ridden
(kind of scary w/o brakes).
If I don't got a response locally, I'll post to the Yak, but I thought
I'd check locally first.
It's a great day for riding!

running smooth now.
By copy of this email to my BikeFriday Friends here in Austin I am
letting you all know that Bike Mechanic Brent at Bicycle Sport Shop at
South Lamar and Barton Springs overhauled my internal rear hub per the
recommendation letter I got from BikeFriday.
Hugh's email and Brent's savvy got it done. So now Brent is an expert,
if you need it done here in Austin.

3 1/2 cups yellow split peas (in India it's called Channa Dahl)
14 cups filtered water
1 onion finely chipped
1/4 cup olive oil
4 tsp tumeric powder
1 1/2 tbsp mustard seed
1 1/2 tbsp cumin seed
1 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp black pepper
1 tsp curry powder
Rinse and cover peas with eater
Fry mustard & cumin seed til they pop
Add onion
Add some water
Cover, cook 5 mins
Add rest of peas w/ water, salt & pepper to taste
Return to heat, simmer on low, careful to avoid burning the bottom.
Some people like to skim off the foam.
Remove from heat.
Add chopped tomato, lots of chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime
Serve with brown rice
Dahl is a lentil-based yummy dish that Lynette made while staying at Ron's (which is why she thought it might still be in his fridge), but which migrated south to our house when she came for her Manchaca stint. No need to develop a taste for it. It's tasty from the first bite. We haven't eaten so well here since she left.
Hi Chas,
Cutting off the excess seatpost with a pipe cutter shouldn't be a problem.
You'll probably want to leave an inch or so extended past the seatpost clamp
to make it easier to adjust. Or if you want a new shorter seatpost, I have
a few of them in various lenths and materials. Just let me know what length
you need. I'm assuming the post is a 27.2 diameter.
Also, apologies, but I won't be able to make the potluck supper Saturday -
I'm attending a wedding. Best to the Sheila and Thomas!

Bobbit surgery is even easier. Bit tough saw. Someone on the list is

Hi Lynette, thanks for the wheel notes. I think I currently have sun
451 rims. Any links to info on these wheels you mentioned? Oh, and
weight is 155 so gonna guess most wheels would be ok.
I'm a bit confused by the remainder of your posting. The part of the
AirFriday I'm considering snipping has nothing to do with the frame.
It's just the bottom of the seat post. See picture here:
http://www.bikefriday.com/bikeMMI.cfm?bf=2
Note how that picture doesn't have any seat post sticking out beneath
the Ti beam? In my case, the seat post sticks out well below the beam
another 4 or 5 inches or something like that.
I do in fact have a 2nd water cage and a front derailleur on the
little part of the frame that sticks up above the bottom bracket. The
useless extra seat post is actually long enough that it almost hits
the top of the water bottle in the 2nd cage as the Ti beam flexes.

Lynette here. You must have the Air Friday with a hub. Before you do a Loreena Bobbit on it, a) it's there to hold an extra waterbottle and b) it's handy if you want to put a front derailleur on it (from memory). Depending on your weight there are 24 spoke Velocity, Alex and M14A rims available - depending on what you have. That's about the limit of my knowledge at this point, so I shall defer to the other techhies like Alvin et al and they can give you the good oil. In fact he might be able to do it for you but check if it voids the lifetime frame warranty - and that means lifetime. Or call BF service department.
Hi, been lurking as a member of this yahoo group for a bit and thought
I'd finally get around to posting.
I've been riding my AirFriday more in recent weeks. (Upcoming trip to
Italy in Sept.) It's one of several bikes in the stable. I've got a
couple questions this group could perhaps help with:
Ok, first, has anyone put different and lighter wheels on their
Friday? There didn't appear to be any on the Friday web site and some
searching didn't turn up much. I'm looking to lighten my load a little
and looking for suggestions.
I've always wanted to get rid of the useless stump of seat post that
sticks down below the suspended Ti bar of the AirFriday. Anyone know
of someone that does metal work that could cut off & polish the end of
a seat post?
Cheers,
-Chas Erickson
Hey Texas pals,
I just put our Leo up on the BF homepage, in time for the TDF ...
see http://www.bikefriday.com and scroll down a bit.
Way to go, Leo!
Hey Leo, want to zip up here here to the Haldeman Homestead and do
Wisconsin Camp Aug 12-19, since you missed Route66?

All -
The Tansey-Johnson family joined our group several months ago while
still in their home in Vancouver(Delta), BC. They were planning on
moving to Austin, and wanted to start networking with other Friday
Folks. Move time is now at hand. Thomas and Chobe the husky will be
here June 18, and Sheila will follow with the boys and arrive around
June 23. They will be sub-letting in Barton Hills for the summer.
When Leo and I return from our latest ride the rockies thingie (be
home 7/4), I will organize a welcome pot luck at our house.
Please extend a typical hardy Austin welcome, and say "Howdy" to the
intrepid (maybe a little crazy??) Canadians who are moving 4000 miles
southeast to bask in their first Texas summer. Fleece is out; Drylite
is in.
Note, too, I posted several new pictures on the site, including our
new arrivals.
Happy Trails and Drive Friendly,
Sue
