Dear Tabletenniser’s,

     Sixty-seven people came to play at our friendly round robin…and although a few gracious people did volunteer to help set-up,

It was too few to get all the tables and barriers set-up before 7pm. And of course (besides the very helpful Sam Lam and Anil Dhupelia) I had no assistants on the desk helping me with the various duties I described last week, checking in people, collecting money, getting people to sign waivers, assess  newcomers ratings for appropriate division play and to answer all of the questions people always need answered And again I had no chance to warm up and enjoy my tournament games. I am a volunteer too…,come early , leave late and work a couple hours a week  after the club closes to process  the results and write this letter. We really need more willing volunteers to take charge and offer their help. We are basically a non-profit organization…our proceeds go to pay for use of the gym to the city of Berkeley  and any additional  funds towards maintenance of our equipment, storage of tables and  for supplies(nets and balls etc) , and other club needs such as trophies for the club championship.

Maybe things will get better, I certainly hope so…

      Bunny Lee wins Division One on games-won tie-break over Sally Sue.with a 4-1 match record.

Kevin Yuen sweeps through Division Two with a steady 5-0 record.

 

 I’ve just been informed BTTC WILL BE CLOSED ON FEB. 15 for Lincoln’s Birthday (city holiday)

I made the mistake of allowing someone to enter after the time deadline and it was explained that it would be slowing down the starting time by ten minutes. Some matches were uncompleted and this person actually  later complained they didn’t have enough time to finish their matches. go figure…hmmmm…..

 PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO ARRIVE EARLY! REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 6:50 SHARP! If you are planning to be late then call the Cell Phone Reservation Number:  (510) 587-3388 before 6:35 PM. If you call this latecomer's number, please make sure to pronounce your first AND last name clearly. For non-native English speakers it is recommended to repeat their full name at least twice. We do not guarantee spots in our Round Robin tournament to latecomers who only left undecipherable messages or people who misuse this line and do not show up to play. Please spread the word, IF YOU ARE LATE OR WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND YOUR LATE MESSAGE >> YOU WILL NOT PLAY THAT NIGHT!
