Dear Tabletenniser’s,
Happy Holidays to All ! The holiday season brought out 70
players to compete in this weeks round robin .Avishy
Schmidt wins on tiebeak 4-0 over Sylvan
Guo who suffered one loss and ended up 4-1 in Division One.
We possibly may be
closed for several weeks starting December 21 due to the gym being
re-floored, but the final word won’t be known
until early next week…I will keep you informed….
I think it is my duty to inform all of you that the City Of
Berkeley is reviewing our status and that could affect the use of the gym
overall and possibly the prices we charge.
We need to prove to the city that we are an educationally
based organization to maintain our current status (in which case we should be
able to stay here at this venue and may not need to raise our prices) If you
have an interest in helping save our current location and status please E-Mail
me a letter urging the city of Berkeley to keep us and that we provide
a community service and an educationally based benefit to the community.
When I make a presentation to the city these letters could be helpful!(see
below Ed Baxter’s letter)

Regarding Messages on the late-call line
Please leave a quick clear understandable message! There are often
20 messages and it takes a long time receiving them especially when we hear
your entire life story why and how you’re late….JUST STICK TO THE
ESSENTIALS>>>YOUR NAME SAID VERY CLEAR!
PLEASE
DO NOT FORGET TO ARRIVE EARLY! REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 6:50 SHARP! If you are
planning to be late then call the Cell Phone Reservation Number: (510)
587-3388 before
6:35 PM. If
you call this latecomer's number, please make sure to pronounce your first AND last name clearly.
For non-native English speakers it is recommended to repeat their full name at
least twice. We do not guarantee spots in our Round Robin tournament to
latecomers who only left undecipherable messages or people who misuse this line
and do not show up to play.

Hi Mike
Just a followup on our conversation last night.
Please keep my email and call on me if you think it
will help. I do have connections in the city. I work as morning
news anchor at KGO Radio and have some visibility in the community.
I have served on the board at Walnut Creek Youth
Athletic and am aware of the way the process works.
THE IMPORTANT POINTS ARE...AT A TIME WHEN WE WORRY
ABOUT KIDS HEALTH AND ACTIVITIES, THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN
AWAY. IT ALSO SERVES THE ADULT COMMUNITY IN A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
My estimate is that half the participants are under
18. Every time out is a learning experience. All you have to do is
look at how the kids ratings improve.
This is something the city of
You do great work...thank you..
