Dear Tabletenniser’s,

     We had a friendly, comfortable 62 players arrive this week to compete at the BTTC Round-Robin.

Kung Wu lost only one match to edge out his competition in winning table one this week.

As many of you noticed BTTC Coach Bunny Lee and several juniors were not present this week as they were competing at the San Francisco Sunset Club

Junior league match. Unconfirmed reports indicate BTTC’s Jr’s performed well and had a lot of fun and practice.

       This week I have three important issues to present…VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS, and VOLUNTEERS….

We need more people to help out in several areas. Last week three or four people put away almost twenty tables at the end of the night…This is not good and not fair .Please ,at about 9:45 ,when you are finishing your match or last game, take the net down, fold the table(TWO PEOPLE SHOULD DO THIS) and roll it into the storage closet. This takes less than 5 minutes and it helps so much if we spread the responsibility.

It would be nice if a few more people could arrive early and help set the tables and barriers as well.. last night  our regular volunteers were not present and tables were not set-up till almost 6:30,well enough said

I need some well-oiled computer people to assist me in registration and eventually running the draw….I’m very willing to volunteer my time to do this but not every week. I want to focus on my games and matches too…I rarely get a chance to warm-up and my early matches suffer greatly. Please consider learning how to run the program and offer your time even once a month would be helpful!

A couple of reminders from last week.. I have an important announcement regarding GLUING your paddles.  Ophelia our very nice Berkeley city staff member has requested that all gluing be done outside…she is pregnant and feels the fumes are potentially noxious and may hurt her baby. Let’s respect her wishes please...

BTTC T-shirts are on sale for $12, What a deal! The club is selling them at close to cost; they are good quality T-shirts with your club name on them! Only a few left at present, but I do plan to order more if there is interest..

We are getting better about the courtesy of other players, but there still needs more reinforcing this idea as people forget….

Courtesy Reminder!   Please do not retrieve a ball from your game when it rolls to another table  or walk behind during another player’s active point play…this is distracting causing one player a serious disadvantage.

People need to be vigilant about this as it happens way too often….Just wait a few seconds for the point to be completed and say “LET!” Thanks for your consideration!

If you call this latecomer's number, please make sure to pronounce your first AND last name clearly. For non-native English speakers it is recommended to repeat their full name at least twice. We do not guarantee spots in our Round Robin tournament to latecomers who only left undecipherable messages.
