Dear BTTCers,
The March 3 Round Robin results are now published on our website (www.berkeleytabletennis.org). As usual, please let me know as soon as possible if you find any errors.
Top scorers (in terms of rating gain) this week were:
Filmon Teckie +114
Noah Efrom +105
William Chung +94
Coleman Lukas +92
Tony Carpentieri +77
Aria Lee +68
Serena Banh +61
Neel Neelakantan +60
Concerning our "problems" with too many players, a first measure will be to buy more tables (possibly 4) as soon as possible. Other measures, such as raised fees or a limitation of the number of players, might still be necessary, however, and the discussion goes on in the guestbook on the website (
www.berkeleytabletennis.org). Feel free to add your thoughts or suggestions.
Our experiment with swing tables (in order to have a more fair distribution of players/table) seems to have worked out reasonably well. David Bernstein provides some statistics from Friday's tournament (I'm quoting from the guestbook):
"Statistics from Friday's RR; Tables 1 and 2 (two tables each, table 1 with 6 players, table 2 with 7 players) averaged 4.8 completed matches per player.
Tables 3-10 (1 1/2 tables each, 6 players per table, except for table 5 which had 5) averaged 4.5 completed matches per player.
So overall much better. Tables 3 and 4 suffered a little with only 11 out of a possible 15 matches played (average 3.7 per player)."

P.S. Just a tip. If you don't get enough of table tennis on Fridays, you can now, thanks to Aaron Castillo, watch some highlights from the TMS Semester Smash league on your home computer. See this link
