Anyone Done a Spreadsheet?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #847 of 1017 |
Got my Bentech plans a couple weeks ago and am fascinated by the idea
of building a quality OSS short-wheelbase recumbent.

My reason for doing a Bentech is low cost and the satisfaction of
recycling discarded bicycles. So I'm interested in predicting final
cost before starting the project.

Has anyone put the parts list in spreadsheet form and estimated cost
before they build? I already have all the wood (from scraps and
leftovers) for the welding jigs. How cheap can you get if you chop up
two trashed (free) donor bikes, buy new chro-mo for the main tube, new
tires and pay to have the welding done? I was hoping to build a nice
bike for under $200, but now I'm not so sure that can be done.

Thanks;
JKB
