I highly recommend this seat:

with this cover:

It was easy to adapt, is VERY comfortable and your feet are flat on the ground
when you're stopped. I've even ridden it without the pad and it was OK (but a
bit slippery).
In other news- Are there any Bentechers out there going to RAGBRAI this year.
I'll be driving a bus out from the Hartford, CT area and have lots of room. If
you can drive a stick and drive part of the trip you'll get a discount. Are you
curious about RAGBRAI but don't think you could ride 500 miles? Come as a
support driver and if you like it, come back next year and ride it.

How about adding a layer of foam, like the ones WalMart
sells for under sleeping bags? A cloth cover would help hold
it in place. Take it off when it gets warmer and you have
saved the price of a new seat.
