I've been spending a lot of time researching trikes, listening to what you
folks have to say, and examining current machines. I have created a design
which uses ackerman steering for a wonderful trike. Then I looked at a friend's
trike which has the two steering tubes vertical. What he mentioned is that
non-ackerman rides better on straight runs, while sacrificing a little
maneuverability in turning. I agree with him after test riding it. Does anyone
have a comment?
Also please let me know what you think of my current design.

Hello fellow Bentech riders! I built my SWB OSS from one of Dom's
frame kits in 2001 (I think). Since then I've made a few mods, mainly
swapping the mesh seat for an M5 style hard seat. I recommend it to
any bent rider. It's VERY comfortable and, as opposed to the mesh
seat, I can put my feet down flat on the pavement when I'm stopped.
The other addition is a rear rack. I used mostly Sram components and
like them very much.

A Question- Have any other bent riders experienced the "wobs" when
going downhill sometimes? It's as scary as shit. I'm doing probably
25-30 down a gentle hill when all of a sudden the front wheel starts
to oscillate. It gets pretty hairy but by careful use of the brakes I
can get out of it. This whole thing has me wary of doing any high
speed runs. Although I haven't dumped yet, I don't know what will
happen at higher speeds (my max is 42). I don't want to crash at 40
so I've been holding back.

Also- Has anybody done RAGBRAI? It's the largest unorganized bike
ride in the country (world?). Between 10 & 20,000 riders for 7 days
going across the state of Iowa. Each year the route is different and
it usually totals around 500 miles. It's a lot of fun. I've done it 5
times and have no thoughts of stopping. Check it out at RAGBRAI.org
or TeamSchmoooze.com (yes, there are 3 'o's in Schmoooze).

Later....
