With sadness, I have made a decision to retire from Bench Sumo. There are just
too many distractions - not all bad ones, but distractions nonetheless - for me
to continue. I've had a number of medical related challenges over the past two
years, including two surgeries and two hospitalizations, and it seems as soon as
one or two are solved, then one or two more crop up. They're not
life-threatening or anything like that, but as I approach the big '7 Oh' this
year, it seems that I can't handle multi-tasking like in the old days. It also
means that my wife and I need (and want) more of each other's time. I also have
become interested in some new pursuits as well, and of course I still have the
SFM gig too, so some things have just got to start coming off the plate.
But it has been fun, especially because - unlike some other outlets for sumo
craziness - things were never taken personally or seriously. Hmm...I did stay
ahead of a certain monkey, didn't I? OOPS!
Well ok, seriously again...I will miss the fun you shared with me, but will
follow your pursuits as I can on the forum and mailing list. Thanks guys!
