2004 Super Banzuke Sumo Games World Championship:

The final round of the 2004 Sumo Games World Championship proved a real
thriller, with many eyes on the intercontinental battle between the two
superstars from Germany and Japan, Doitsuyama and Norizo. Norizo had a
handsome lead going into Kyushu Basho, but despite scoring a Yusho in
Sekitori-Quadrumvirate could not hold on. But he didn't lose to
Doitsuyama, whose valiant effort of two Yusho wins in Kyushu also
remained unrewarded as far as the Championship goes. With a very solid
showing, including a Yusho in the Sumo Game, Mariohana snuck up on both,
and once and for all announced to the world that he has arrived, as was
already clearly evidenced by his meteoric rise on the Super Banzuke,
where he is now ranked as Ozeki. Congratulations to the inaugural World
Champion!! Mariohana will receive the Golden Chalice trophy that is
shown on the World Championship site!

Norizo takes two sansho for the year, the Shukun-sho for winning no less
than 5 Yusho in 2004, and the Gino-sho for displaying the most balanced
excellence in both, Daily and Pre-Basho games. Ulsimitsuki takes the
Kanto-sho for having scored 23 top-10 finishes in 2004, in 15 different
games, over Doitsuyama with the same mark in 14 different games.

Kyushu Basho 2004 Super Banzuke Masters Series:

The final 2004 installment of the Super Banzuke Masters Series was
firmly in German hands, as Heruwejima fought off his higher ranked
compatriots Doitsuyama and Mariohana to win his first ever Green
Mawashi, highlighetd by a GISP co-Yusho, Jun-Yusho in RotoSumo and
Salarycap, and third places in Fantasy Sumo and the Hoshitori Contest.

With a performance like that, not even the two Yusho (Hoshitori and
Salarycap) and an impressive crossover Jun-Yusho in the Paper Oyakata
Game by Doitsuyama proved enough! For his two Yusho, Doitsuyama
however scores the Shukun-sho, and also bags the Kanto-sho, for scoring
in no less than 7 games total (a feat matched by Mariohana) - Mariohana
takes the Gino-sho for the most consistently excellent performance in
Pre-Basho as well as Daily games. And, of course, with his strong
performance in Kyushu, Mariohana also clinched the 2004 Sumo Games World
Championship title!!

Congratulations to all winners! See you in 2005!

This concludes an exciting sumo gaming year 2004! To all the games fans
out there, best wishes for whatever holidays you may or may not be
celebrating, and a good slide into the surely no less exciting sumo
games year of 2005! May it be even better!

Cheers from Florida!
